Connected Learning is a pedagogical approach where learners have a web of relationships and organisations that support their learning in a globally networked world. Based on the research of The Connected Learning Alliance, the Maclean High School Library adopts this pedagogical approach to reach out and connect our Clarence Valley Community with the world through stories, relationships, technology, and fandom. This connection is incredibly valuable for our students, staff and families, and acts to support and recognise that all the learning that occurs in the lives of our students is valuable, particularly in spaces outside of the classroom. Our library has connected with learning communities locally, nationally and globally. As the world becomes smaller, and more connected, it is our relationships with others that will sustain us now, and into a future that requires collaboration and connection to resolve global issues. School libraries act to generate powerful connections through collaboration within their unique, individual communities. Inspiring teaching, learning and leading through inquiry, libraries foster creativity and most importantly, rejoice in the power of story.
